- Kani Blackwell
Dr. Kani Blackwell has been an educator for 40 years serving as a classroom teacher, an elementary school principal, a district specialist in the arts, Assistant Superintendent of a large school district, Education Consultant, and a college professor at three different universities.

Currently, Dr. Blackwell is a fulltime faculty member of the College of Education at the University of Hawaii, Manoa and serves as Elementary Co-hort Coordinator for Teacher Education on Kauai. Before accepting her position at the University of Hawaii in 2003, she was a tenured professor in Psychological Foundations of Learning for California State University, Monterey Bay in California. Her doctorate is in Education specializing in cognition and learning.

Dr. Blackwell is also the author of several articles having to do with learning, serving, and teaching. She has been an international speaker at research and professional development conferences throughout the mainland and Hawaii, and is an enthusiastic speaker for service organizations, on topics having to do with education. She describes herself professionally, simply as a life-long learner and a teacher.
